From RF Packet to Vehicle Signal: TPMS Gateway Software on CAN and LIN

How the TPMS receiver ECU translates validated wireless pressure data into DBC-mapped CAN frames and LIN slave responses consumed by the instrument cluster, body control module, and stability control unit.

Mapping Wireless Telemetry onto DBC-Defined CAN Frames

The gateway ECU packs four to six wheel readings, each with pressure, temperature, and sensor health flags, into a compact set of CAN frames defined by the vehicle's DBC file. Signal scaling and offset values must match the OEM's calibration exactly, since downstream consumers like the instrument cluster and ESC controller trust the gateway as the single source of truth.

Distinguishing Sensor Dropout from Genuine Low-Pressure Faults

When no packet arrives from a wheel position for several duty cycles, gateway software must decide whether the sensor battery has failed, the RF link is obstructed, or the tire itself has been replaced with an unpaired unit. This state machine directly determines whether a dashboard warning, a diagnostic trouble code, or a silent retry is the correct response.
